Grasp.3 at Waco Art Center: Exploring Body Positivity in Small Works

Grasp.3, has been selected to exhibit in the Juried Small Works Exhibit at Waco Art Center, running from September 19 to October 26, 2024. This exhibition, featuring emerging and established Texas-based artists, highlights the importance of small-scale works, bringing together diverse voices in visual arts.

Art Center Waco has long been a hub for fostering creative engagement and presenting innovative exhibitions that push boundaries and spark conversations. I’m honored to be part of their vision, which emphasizes not only the appreciation of beauty but also meaningful exploration of ideas that are relevant today.

The heart of my Grasp series, including Grasp.3, celebrates body positivity and intimacy. I wanted this series to acknowledge and embrace the uniqueness of all bodies. It’s not about challenging conventional beauty standards but offering new perspectives—those quiet, unseen moments that deserve attention and admiration. With Grasp.3, I hope to invite viewers into a dialogue about acceptance, not just of others but of ourselves.

Having my work featured alongside so many talented Texas-based artists in this juried exhibition is truly humbling. The sale of works in this show also supports both the artists and Waco Art Center’s programming, which aligns with my belief in art’s power to enrich and inspire communities.

If you’re in Waco between now and October 26th, I hope you’ll stop by to see the exhibit, engage with the artwork, and perhaps even discover something unexpected.
